‘KANTA Portraits — Malaysia–Taiwan Exchange: Crossing Borders, A Journey to Find the Self’ extends the 2018 ‘PETAMU Project’. Co-curated by artist Jeffrey Lim with the Center for Orang Asli Concerns (COAC), it invited Taiwanese Amis documentary director Posak Jodian into multiple indigenous villages in Peninsular Malaysia. Through portrait photography, documentary, sound collection and conversations with elders and youth, it attempted to construct a space of mutual subjectivity between Taiwanese and Malaysian indigenous cultures.
